THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Grub Restaurant Review:

Located in a cute little house with a Bohemian-style garden in its front yard on a quiet street of Hollywood, Grub offers a homey dining experience. It’s a neighborhood restaurant very much appreciated at lunchtime by the nearby studio workers, and at night and at weekend brunch by the locals. Caterers Betty Fraser (who appeared on Top Chef season 2) and Denise DeCarlo have put together a simple and good menu of American cuisine made with fresh ingredients. Many items, like burgers, mac ‘n’ cheese spiced by cayenne pepper, a bacon quesadilla, and a fresh spinach and greens salad with warm goat cheese are available at both lunch and dinner. But only at midday will you find the Buffalo chicken roll and the spicy barbecue pork, while the drunken steak is served only at night. The latter, in which the filet mignon has been marinated in beer and covered with mushroom-onion sauce, is a must. Also in the evening, try the crab cake or the roasted stuffed red pepper. Finish with warm homemade cookies or the risotto rice pudding. Brunch offerings include omelets, french toast and pancakes, along with salads and rolls. Grub offers an unusual variety of house-made beverages, including ginger ale and lemon basil Champagne.
