Horn of Africa Restaurant Review: Long a popular fixture at Saturday Market and street fairs, Horn of Africa is now a brick and mortar restaurant located in the gleaming Vanport Square complex where East African immigrants Mohamed and Khadija prepare the traditional dishes of their homeland. The menu offers tastes of Ethiopia, Somalia and Djibouti, along with select Middle Eastern choices. Design your own “African family circle platter” with entrées such as chicken in an Ethiopian red pepper sauce; grilled wild salmon marinated in garlic and Zanzibar spices; corn stewed in coconut milk; and roast goat. Vegetarians and vegans will find many appealing options featuring greens, flaxseed, fava beans, lentils and seasonal vegetables. Sop everything up with spongy Ethiopian injera bread. Hungry bargain-hunters will gravitate to the "all you can eat" lunchtime buffet. Beer and wine are available, but you might prefer the house-made chai or a yogurt-based mango lassi.
