Hyperion Public Restaurant Review

: Designed by Claire Stansfield, who also worked on the new A.O.C., Hyperion Public has a split personality. The rustic front dining room features exposed beams, hanging bulbs, reclaimed wood benches, mirrors, chalkboard menus, and a large communal dining table. If it weren't for the flat-screen TVs and Allagash White on tap, the back bar would look like a throwback to the 70's with its round leather booths, paneled walls and dart board. A young crowd fills both, enjoying comfort food in the front, and televised sporting events and karaoke in the back. We enjoyed many of the items on executive chef Paddy Aubrey's eclectic menu, including the fried chicken with blueberry sauce; a salty and satisfying cedar plank salmon; moist, tender and spicy diablo pork; and his gooey mac ā€˜nā€™ cheese offerings which he makes with rotini instead of macaroni. Save room for desserts by Ben Barnz, like The Downfall, his name for salted caramel pie, or The Trove, banana cream pudding in a jar. There is a short wine list and signature drink menu, but many options for beer and whiskey.
