Santa Monica’s Main Street is home to several of L.A.’s best eateries, such as Röckenwagner and Chinois. Il Nido represents those establishments that while less-celebrated, enhance the street’s appeal as a dining destination. The short menu includes excellent beef carpaccio, rigatoni in Gorgonzola sauce and Norwegian salmon filet. The desserts are noteworthy, including a marvelous chocolate tart. Candlelight turns the sparsely decorated dining room almost romantic.
