UPDATE: Jake & Annie’s has closed and in its place owner Gerri Gilliland has opened Finn McCool’s Irish pub. 3/15/02 We like the colorful bar scene and piano music at this comfortable Santa Monica hangout, which is set in a Victorian building and decorated with pop-neon signs and modern art. A loyal crowd of locals keeps returning for homey dishes like crab cakes, pastas and fried chicken with black-eyed peas and mashed potatoes. Brunch is a popular affair, with eggs Benedict, various scrambles and mimosas.
