Unheralded Japon Bistro is a pleasant discovery, offering a menu of contemporary Japanese dishes and deftly prepared sushi dispensed from a sturdy, polished wood bar. Far more interesting than the generic neighborhood sushi bar, here you'll find items such as live uni, artfully served atop the spiny shell; Alaskan snow crab tempura; and kohada, a mild variety of Japanese shad. The setting is soothing, and a solid saké selection complements the fare.
