A spin-off of the tiny but popular Joe’s in Venice, this bright and cheery storefront has super-friendly service and sensational food at reasonable prices. We’ve loved the saffron-laced eggplant soup (the special soups change daily) and the grilled salmon with basil-mashed potatoes, along with such innovations as the onion tart with gravlax, the grilled shiitake mushrooms with smoked mozzarella and roasted peppers, the grilled shrimp on saffron risotto and crispy breast of chicken with a twice-baked potato. Pop in early (6 p.m.-6:30 p.m.) for the budget-priced three-course prix-fixe dinner menu.
