Kazoku Sushi Restaurant Review:

Hidden in the heart of Thai Town is this sliver of a sushi bar that offers some of the better Japanese cuisine in the neighborhood. A sexy, edgy room with black and red accents, plasma screens and an L-shaped granite sushi bar, Kazoku has an extensive menu of Japanese specialties and value-priced lunch specials. Starters include jalapeño-spiked miso-marinated tuna on discs of fried wonton, sesame-marinated baby octopus and rainbow carpaccio (tuna, yellowtail and salmon) with a creamy citrus sauce. The sushi is very respectable, and among the entrées are miso-glazed black cod, salmon teriyaki and grilled Chilean sea bass. Consider the espresso crème brûlée for dessert. To drink there’s beer, wine and saké. Occupying a small shopping center dominated by Thai eateries, Kazoku is perfect for those days when a bowl of udon, rather than a bowl of panang curry, is what you crave.
