THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Kettle Black Restaurant Review:
Partners Beau Laughlin, Brett Cranston and Jay Milliken (Sawyer) have opened another concept located on Sunset Boulevard in Silver Lake. Kettle Black, whose 3,000-square-foot space was originally home to the California Bank, displays an original vault and has 17-foot ceilings and wood truss beams. A rustic Italian menu includes a variety of antipasti, such as orata crudo with sea bream, tangerine vinaigrette, pink peppercorns and Malden salt; wood-oven pizzas; and house-made gnocchi with braised lamb, sun-dried tomato and baby zucchini. Sommelier Dario Dell’Anno (Mozza, Providence) offers a wide range of Italian wines, and barkeeps Damien Windsor (Roger Room, Seven Grand) and Jordan Young (Osso, East Borough) create craft and classic cocktails.
