Kuro Restaurant Review:

The last place locals would expect to enjoy an elevated Japanese omakase dining experience is inside a tourist destination such as Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, but Kuro proffers dishes straight from Japan, an inimitable robata grill and cocktails that'll have you feeling lucky post-dinner at the blackjack tables. Many members of the culinary and kitchen team come from Nobu, so you're in good hands. Sushi and sashimi are pristine, with catch ranging from otoro to live and Hokkaido scallop, seabream and even king crab. Of course, expect all the usual suspects, like hamachi, tuna and salmon, as well as copious amounts of chilled items, among them Wagyu tartare and tuna crispy rice (a staple). Spicy seafood soup is a must, as are the maitake mushrooms and scallop wasabi. If you're a fan of the hot stone technique used for cooking meat, opt for the ishiyaki Japanese Wagyu beef. And if you want to surrender control, the aforementioned chef's choice omakase allows the focus to remain on eating. Wash it all down with wine, a glass of Japanese whiskey, one of the 30-plus sakés or a handcrafted libation (look for the mushroom-infused take on an Old Fashioned with mirin, black pepper and lemon). Sesame panna cotta with ginger gelée and nori sponge is a sweet finale.
