THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Kyoto Restaurant Review:
This smart, elegant restaurant on the Wilshire Grand's mezzanine level showcases a 600-gallon saltwater fish tank and blonde wood sushi and tempura bars. We recommend the sashimi platter, allowing you to sample not only the expected maguro but also conch and striped bass. The chef is known for handpicking his fresh fish daily from local suppliers. As a result, we can also endorse the seared albacore with carrot vinaigrette, barbecued eel in a “jewel box” and the sautéed shirataki noodles with shrimp, lobster and scallops. Saké enthusiasts should ask to see the list of junmai (pure rice), junmai ginjo (very pure rice) and junmai dai ginjo (ultra-premium) varieties. One special feature to note: a separate private tea room that seats up to ten---a popular spot for a small gathering or business lunch.
