The ambience is homey and the straightforward French bistro fare sends us home satisfied. Dine on the airy patio or in the booth-lined dining room. Either way, it’s a pleasant experience. The menu is massive: you could easily order a different dish every day for six months. If you plan to do that, begin with the baked goat cheese ratatouille, crab cakes with Cajun mayonnaise or the escargots served on mushroom caps. Entrée choices include a wide variety of salads, crêpes and quiches, highlighted by the quiche Lorraine. A satisfying lunch option is the chopped sirloin with frites, bacon and béarnaise sauce. Interesting entrées include roast duck in lemon-orange sauce, served with wild rice; New York steak in black pepper-brandy sauce; and from the sea, sautéed trout amandine. In season, order the mussels marinière, served with crisp frites. For dessert, make sure to save room for the chocolate soufflé, or a “liquor soufflé” spiked with Grand Marnier, Kahlúa or Amaretto.
