Hidden in the heart of Claremont Village is this charming little restaurant, operated by chef-owner Linda Biscardi, who offers different pastas with four sauces that complement the pasta's shape and texture (the weekly rotating selection reflects a repertoire of about fifteen dishes). They are typically simple but robustly flavored, in the tradition of Italian cooking. The arrabbiata sauce is sufficiently spicy, in contrast to a silky cream sauce with peas. A simple olive oil-based sauce, liberally spiked with anchovies, is another winner. Entrées include a robust cioppino and buttery shrimp scampi, while a satisfying torta della nonna is a nice finish. The prices are modest---salad included---and the cozy, rustic room is inviting. While the wine list offers nothing special, there is a low corkage fee. Don't expect to find an intimate table for two, but you're likely to meet some delightful locals at the long communal tables.
