La Rotonde Restaurant Review:

Before neighboring restaurant La Coupole even opened its doors in 1927, La Rotonde had already established itself as a favorite of the artists of Montparnasse. Today it remains one of the most authentic brasseries in Paris. Fresh oysters, shellfish and seafood arrive daily and are served à la carte with rye bread, shallot vinegar, salted butter, lemon and mayonnaise. Also à la carte and served all day long --- one of the great things about brasseries --- are classic dishes like Bourgogne snails by the dozen with garlic butter, crispy prawns with sweet-and-sour sauce, fresh string beans and cold slices of Lozère lamb from famed butcher Hugo Desnoyer, a veal chop (also from Hugo Desnoyer) with marrow sauce, and sole from Yeu island either grilled or à la meunière. Finish with ice cream or sorbet from Berthillon. The wine list is worthy of a great restaurant. La Rotonde is run by Serge and Gerard Tafanel, two brothers that make us still believe in the gastronomic future of beautiful Parisian brasseries. They can also be praised for providing the warmest welcome and service in Paris.
