 After his original quick-service eatery at the Farmers Market engendered a cult following, chef-owner Jimmy Shaw opened up a full-service dining room in Hollywood, and now this edition in the San Fernando Valley. Colorful, poster-size lotería cards decorate the room, which is an airy, skylit space with a modernist theme. The extensive menu stays true to Shaw's previous locations, with breakfast served all day. Some lighter dishes give Mexican cuisine a new dimension, such as a summer salad of fresh greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, avocado and goat cheese with a cilantro and lime vinaigrette topped with spicy pepitas, or a snappy nopales salad. Tacos are served on fresh handmade corn tortillas or on lettuce cups for carbohydrate counters, and many choices appeal to vegetarians. Among entrées, specialties include huachinango (red snapper) a la Veracruzana, and chicken in red pipián sauce.
