THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Lunada BayHouse Restaurant Review:
Along the tree-lined Palos Verdes Drive West, this seafood-centric restaurant is hard to find, since it’s sheltered in the middle of a circular strip mall. Though the interior is somewhat nondescript, the outdoor patio feels like what one might find travelling to the south of France; and the smiles and friendly greetings of a neighborhood restaurant are offered upon entering. A large menu commences with a well-executed ceviche made with whitefish, scallops and shrimp that has a spike of citrus to charge the palate. A blue crab quesadilla is creamy and satisfying, with the addition of chunky guacamole. Plenty of salads and pastas are available for a less formal dining experience, but it is the seafood entrées that stand out. Mahi mahi is marinated in a balanced blend of soy and ginger, topped with a mango salsa; New Zealand orange roughy is earthier, sautéed with artichokes, mushrooms and olives; and cioppino is loaded with fish, clams, shrimp, scallops and crab in a quite spicy tomato sauce. Desserts change regularly, and the wine list is fairly predictable, with several well-known California labels.
