Malbec Restaurant Review

: Malbec has candlelit tables, some spilling onto the sidewalk beneath a broad green awning, while its boldly colored walls are lined with artsy photography. Begin with empanadas or a chorizo and morcilla skewer with white bean salad, before moving on to a selection of meat and pasta dishes. Gnocchi is served with Argentinean stew and a hearty porcini sauce, while a skirt steak benefits from the ubiquitous chimichurri. Chicken arrives with a lemon-herb sauce, and a mixed grill includes short ribs, chorizo, morcilla and sweetbreads, plus fries. For dessert, consider a particularly rich flan, sponge cake layered with chocolate mousse, or crêpes with apples and dulce de leche. As one might expect, it’s easy to find a respectable yet very affordable Malbec among the selection of Argentinean wines at this cozy restaurant. Because of the reasonable prices and friendly service, there is often a line outside the front door, so reservations are essential. Also located at 10151 Riverside Dr., Toluca Lake, 818-762-4860.
