THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Mandarade Restaurant Review:
With a chef who used to cook at Mandarette and its upscale affiliate The Mandarin, its no surprise the food at this narrow storefront eatery is so thoroughly satisfying. Start with an onion pancake, minced chicken in lettuce cups or terrific pan-fried dumplings, one version stuffed with shredded duck and scallions, served with hoisin sauce. Among entrées, you cant go wrong with the honey-walnut shrimp or the delicate salt- and pepper-crusted shrimp. Crispy morsels of tangerine chicken or beef are loaded with orange peel and come in generous servings. Theres an emphasis on healthful dishes here (witness an array of vegetarian dishes and some creative uses of tofu), but flavor isnt sacrificed.
