| Every city has a Mandarin House, whether it’s called the Mandarin Dragon, Mandarin China, or some other variation on the theme. This one has been a San Diego fixture for decades, and for a while it was sorely in need of a good renovation. That occurred, making this again a reliable spot for food that’s as predictable as the restaurant’s name but still satisfies, especially if you order typical Cantonese fare like cashew chicken or sweet-and-sour pork. The noodle dishes are good, too, and the Peking duck has its fans. The solid cocktails poured at the Mandarin House bar are another plus. |
