THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Menemsha Restaurant Review:

No newcomer to the restaurant and nightlife scene (Memphis restaurant in New York; Roxbury, Georgia, Sunset Room in Los Angeles; V Bar in Las Vegas), owner Brad Johnson is now devoting his skills to his new venture. East meets West at Menemsha, a New England-style restaurant and seafood bar in Venice. Menemsha is an Algonquin Indian word meaning still waters evoking images of nature, tranquility, bounty and connections to the earth. It is exactly the atmosphere that the décor creates. Warm wood paneling, candlelit tables, the bar with captains’ yacht chairs, the stone fireplaces inside and in the outdoor patio, the different floor levels, all will make you feel relaxed and comfortable as soon as you step in. To get deeper into Martha’s Vineyard atmosphere---Menemsha is also the name of a fishing village on the island---try the Maine lobster, clam and quahog chowder, the Cobb salad, or the tender lobster roll. From the raw bar you can order very fresh oysters, Cape Cod cherry stones or seafood platters. The main courses are mainly devoted to seafood: linguini with clams, crispy fish and chips, baked Atlantic blue fish topped with crab meat, lobster baked en casserole, or simply grilled or broiled sea bass or Eastern cod. For dessert, to stay in the New England mood all the way, try the banana cream pie whose recipe comes from Aquinnah restaurant on Martha’s Vineyard. The wine list is international. A different selection of wine by the glass is offered nightly.
