CAV Restaurant Review:

CAV is all drama and mood, with white lights illuminating plants, exposed beams and tables hiding sexily within alcoves. Dramatic chandeliers adding a sense of elegance complete the picture. The drama, though, is also comforting, and it’s a combination that extends to the cooking. Poulet aux poires (pan-seared chicken breast with red wine-poached red pears and ginger pear sauce), and duck confit and seared duck breast are signature dishes. A $17.95 fixed-price bistro menu with smaller portions served Sunday-Thursday is a welcome touch. French and American influences are preeminent, but the menu also explores Asian cuisine, techniques and ingredients. Between courses you can browse through CAV’s collection of ceremonial art and antiques for sale. Grazers can enjoy snacks or the full menu at the vintage mahogany bar. Presiding over all is owner Sylvia Moubayed, a fixture on the local restaurant scene for decades.
