This Burbank branch of the legendary Cuban bakery is nearly as busy as the original Glendale location. There's usually a long line for savory specialties like croquettes stuffed with ham or chicken, a roast pork sandwich with grilled onions, and a seasonally changing soup. There's also a big demand for the impressive selection of multi-cultural sweets, with inspirations ranging from the Caribbean to Germany to France and beyond. Croissants, éclairs, classic rum baba, and masareal (moist, sweet dough flavored with cinnamon, honey and guava) are carried out in big boxes by a steady torrent of customers. Luckily, there's a separate line for patrons picking up whole cakes. Varieties include tres leches and red velvet. This outpost is more sophisticated looking than the original, with long marble counters and marble-topped tables.
