THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Mes Amis Restaurant Review:
A personable Syrian-born chef/owner with a global perspective turns out modern takes on Middle Eastern cuisine in this attractive restaurant. The dining room is decorated with vintage art and artifacts, with an exhibition kitchen and generous al fresco seating completing the scene. Various appetizer platters --- the “Lebanese journey” includes hummus, mamaganouj (a variation of baba ghanouj made with zucchini), lebneh and a very satisfying mouhamara --- provide fun ways to explore the menu. For entrées, you’ll find the expected kebabs and falafel, as well as some European-inspired dishes with classic sauces. A short but interesting list of California and continental wines is offered, plus more than just a token selection of bottles from Lebanon. Traditional desserts like rosewater ice cream and baklava send diners off satisfied.
