Traci Des Jardins, of Jardinière and Acme Chophouse, has taken her love of sustainability and the recipes of her grandmother and melded them into a gourmet cocina Mexicana. Nestled in the Ferry Building, the brightly decorated counter-service restaurant boasts a great view of the bay and outside picnic tables at which one can soak up the sun while enjoying the delicious Mexican food. Beer-battered mahi mahi and crisp cabbage make up the fish taco. Slow-braised pork and red tomatillo salsa are showered with cilantro and onions in the carnitas taco. Quesadillas, salads and soups, along with a short list of aqua frescas, round out the menu. On the weekends, brunch specials include chilaquiles, huevos rancheros and chorizo con huevos. The prices are a little steep compared to most taquerias in San Francisco, but here, all of the food is organic and purchased from sustainable farming purveyors.
