Dining room at Mr. Chow, Beverly Hills, CAThis venerable swinging London import from the 60s is beloved by its many loyalists, although some knowledgeable fans of authentic Chinese cuisine are critical of the high priced, occasionally disappointing fare. Nonetheless, the garlic noodles, still made in-house by hand, are delicious, and the Peking duck is served in the traditional, centuries-old manner. Gambler's duck, crispy and redolent of ginger, is similarly served with steamed pancakes and hoisin sauce. Diced squab, eaten folded into lettuce leaves, and black peppered lobster, are other house favorites. The high profile clientele includes celebrities, entertainment industry movers-and-shakers, and a corps of hip artists and connoisseurs who identify with the owner, designer-painter-collector Michael Chow, a self-proclaimed Renaissance Man. Be forewarned, the dinner you have at Mr. Chow's can easily turn into one of the most expensive Chinese meals you've ever had.

I love Mr. Chow's! I love it!!!!
If you people are looking for cheap prices, go to Panda Express.
The service is amazing and I love the atmosphere. We were seated right away with reservations.
Don't ask for a menu because the staff will pick out the right dishes. Believe me, they know exactly what to bring to your table.
I loved the lettuce/squab wraps, the rolled shrimp, crispy beef, the scallion pancake and fried rice. The Duck is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
There's so much to say about this place to recommend it!
And we will be back......

I was in Beverly Hills this weekend for a leisurely vacation of shopping, relaxing and of course dining. We heard a lot of talk about Mr. Chow and its great upscale Chinese food.
This was my experience at Mr. Chow:
Upon arrival, there were so many people waiting to be seated that the 15 foot bar area was way over capacity. They did seat us right at 9:30pm which was our reservation time. The seating situation in this restaurant is awful. In order for me to get to the seat at the table, they had to pull the table all the way out just for me to get in. The next table was 6 inches away. I was literally bumping elbows with the people on both sides of me. They had us squeezed in there like sardines. It was very uncomfortable not to mention, you could not have a descent conversation with the person you were with because either you were listening to the person's conversation next to you or they were listening to yours. I don't think anyone wants to listen to another’s conversation unless they have no choice! The service was horrible! We sat for 15 minutes before anyone even approached us with menus or asked us for a drink. Once the server did come by we ordered drinks and he had to come back 3 times and clarify our drink order and guess what...he still got it wrong! The food here was shockingly good. I cannot complain about the food but in a nut shell, I would never return to Mr. Chow. There are so many other great restaurants that have great food, great atmosphere and SPACE for the same price or cheaper.
