| In addition to the café's physical charms---homey plaid-and-floral curtains, folksy art on mustard-colored walls and a few tables spilling onto the sidewalk under green awnings---you can easily fall in love with the food. At breakfast, that means healthy but flavorful Mustard Seed omelets, made with egg whites, tomato, avocado, mushrooms, broccoli, basil, Jack and cheddar cheeses. At lunch, don’t miss the ahi soft tacos with salsa fresca and guacamole, or the juicy rosemary turkey burger. Sandwiches (for example, turkey with a sweet-hot Dijon spread) are quite good, as are the quiches and smoked-chicken Cobb salads. Blackboard coffee and tea options are highlighted by Pirate’s Chai, which is spicier and less sweet. A countertop pastry case displays house-made baked goods like cappuccino brownies and lemon shortbread. |
