Oscar's Cerveteca Restaurant Review

: Dimly lit, the dining room of Oscar’s Cerveteca feels romantic, hip and strangely cool all at the same time, making it an ideal fit for the restaurant scene in Venice. A small patio includes tables practically on top of one another, while inside, a long bar and a few high-top tables offer views of the kitchen. The menu is an eclectic combination of Peruvian, Mexican and American cuisine. Norma’s chipotle beer shrimp are served head-on in a creamy sauce, with a crusty wedge of bread for sopping up the remains; and a fresh and bright Peruvian ceviche has a spicy sauce foundation balanced with plenty of Key lime juice. Burgers start with a large ten-ounce patty and come with interesting ingredients like fried green tomatoes, tomatillo marmalade and bitter orange barbecue sauce. There are also larger plates, such as a tender flank steak with a garlicky chimichurri sauce, and a mole chicken enchilada with a slow-cooked sauce of sesame seeds, peanuts, raisins and poblano chiles. For libations, beer is the focus, though a few drier-style wines are available to complement the food.
