THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Paladar Restaurant Review:

Just across from the Playmates store on the corner of Hollywood and Wilcox, Paladar is the epitome of new Hollywood. Understated glamour, from the inch-thick, mahagony carpeting to the leather-topped tables, this dark, intimate dining space is just the sort of place you can expect to find young Hollywood hiding. The menu is an update on traditional Cuban cuisine with highlights including mango-infused mojitos, sofritto rock shrimp with a sweet plantain cake, shredded flank steak and pressed sandwiches with diet-destroying fries. Portion control is definitely not the mode of operation; most dishes are large enough to share with your neighbor. As a matter of fact, it isn’t surprising to see just that kind of camaraderie among strangers. Something about the restaurant’s low-key, intimate vibe seems to inspire cross-table conversation.
