Owner-chef Phillip Shaw’s personal cuisine is way more accessible than his upstairs location in a minimall, but the trip is worth it. The small, oft-changing menu here might feature meaty braised oxtails with new potatoes, sun-dried tomatoes and hoppin’ John that’ll get a rise out of you. Seasonal favorites include coconut shrimp, seafood gumbo, peach and yogurt soup and sister Hannah’s pineapple-supreme cake. When Delores, his sister, is on duty, she beats most of the maître d’s in town by a mile. For Sunday brunch, enjoy some Southern comfort: catfish with a grits casserole of eggs, cheese, peppers and scallions served with fresh fruit.
