R & O's Restaurant Review: The loud and chaotic ambience at R & O’s actually is part of its appeal. The Creole-Italian repertoire boasts full flavors and low prices in the sprawling Bucktown A-frame. But it’s fruitless to categorize R & O’s menu, because they really have a little bit of everything --- you’ll even find tamales on the menu. Olive salads, thin-crust pizzas and squares of thick, silky house-made cheesecake are worth the drive out to Lake Pontchartrain. Splash some of the meaty country gravy over anything from french fries to po' boys to french fry po' boys. Oh, and about those po’ boys: try the fried shrimp or roast beef versions. Wait times can average 30 minutes during peak hours, so bring something to entertain the little people in case they begin to fidget. But in season, R & O's is a good place for both kids and adults to dirty their hands in mounds of nicely boiled crawfish. There's a wine list, but it's quite limited.
