| A protected wetland creek in the middle of suburbia plays host to a 10,000-square-foot beauty of a building with towering windows and a balcony across the back overlooking the flora and fauna. The setting is both contemporary and warm, and often is the scene of weddings. Start with fresh seafood, sweet crab legs, cold-water oysters and stone crab claws in season. Skip the unfortunate glue-y and too-salty crab bisque, and pass, too, on the clam chowder. Grilled fish and meats in pretty much equal representation on the menu are the stock in trade. The sliced filet with a whopping side of "smashed" redskin potatoes is a very good deal, and comes cooked as ordered. Lamb, pink, juicy and aromatic, is another good choice. The meal deal is the 12-ounce prime rib. Side dishes, including caramelized onions and creamed spinach, are plenty for at least two persons. The wine list indicates vintages in most instances, and offers chiefly high-recognition name-brand California budget-busters. For desserts, the choices are many and so are the calories. We recommend the made-on-the-premises New York-style cheesecake but order the accompanying fruit topping on the side. Check out happy hour for selected half-price appetizers served from 3 p.m.-6 p.m. along with drink specials. |
