Reel Inn Malibu Restaurant Review:
“After 36 years in business we have lost our beloved restaurant, The Reel Inn Malibu, to the devastating Pacific Palisades fire. Our deepest concerns are for our incredible staff and their ongoing support until we know when and if we are able to rebuild and reopen. These hardworking individuals are more than employees —they're family. They've supported us through thick and thin, and now we want to ensure they have the financial stability they need during this difficult time.
We're asking for your help to raise funds to provide 3 months of wages, benefits, and support for our team as we navigate this challenging period. Your generosity will help us give back to the people who have always given so much to our restaurant and our community. Together, we can ensure that if and when our doors reopen, our team will be there, ready to welcome you all back with open arms.
Thank you for standing with us and our staff during this time. Andy & Teddy Leonard, Owners."
Order from a blackboard menu, grab a spot at one of the wooden picnic tables, knock back a beer and enjoy the view of the Pacific from the patio at this casual seafood-driven café. Start with a heaping portion of steamed mussels or fried oysters, then move on to some grilled fish or crustaceans. The menu is detailed, so you know the orange roughy is from New Zealand, the basa sole is from China, and the catfish is from Louisiana. Almost all of them are reliably tasty. There are also some interesting shellfish options, including grilled scallops. Only one entrée cracks the $20 barrier --- grilled or fried lobster tail and six shrimp --- but it’s still a relative bargain. We're particularly fond of the grilled Cajun shrimp, the creamy coleslaw and the zingy Cajun rice. There are chicken and pasta offerings for landlubbers, too. On summer weekends, expect to wait for a seat.
