The Restaurant at Ventana Restaurant Review: If you are lucky enough to pass through this part of the world on a coastal journey, allow time on your itinerary to stop at Ventana Big Sur. The restaurant has a beautiful bright wood interior, but if the weather holds, opt for a table on the veranda. You'll never get tired of this panorama. Breakfast kicks off with freshly pressed juices, whole grain pancakes and omelets elevated with crab or Humboldt Fog cheese. For lunch, we like the juicy pork loin Cuban sandwich. In the evening, chef Paul Corsentino presents a four-course prix-fixe menu with seasonal options that might range from house-made fettuccine with rabbit, roasted tomato, arugula, pistou and preserved lemon to Monterey Bay king salmon with carrot, tapenade, bulgur wheat and fava bean salad to spiced duck breast with black quinoa, dandelion, tangerine purée and baby turnips. Satisfy your sweet tooth with the Pavlova.
