ANdAZ means "style" in Urdu (a central Indo-Aryan language), and style defines your experience at RH. Named after the hotel's nickname from the '70s, "Riot House," (made famous by the memorable parties thrown by rock 'n' rollers like Led Zeppelin, The Who and The Rolling Stones), the restaurant is a wide open space with a bar and views of busy Sunset Boulevard. Entering from the lobby, you’ll find the private dining room on your left, two massive marble communal tables on your right, silver-hued leather banquettes in the back, and the star of the show: the kitchen. It is undoubtedly the most open one in Los Angeles---even the refrigerators have glass doors. Chef Sébastien Archambault aims to cook with the freshest seasonal ingredients, so many are local, and it means lots of vegetables featured in sides like the cauliflower gratin. (Diners can even request for the chef to prepare a special dish showcasing that day’s produce.) Start with pata negra ham served with tomato and garlic crostini, or the perigourdine poached egg with field mushrooms, foie gras and summer truffle. Move on to the crayfish risotto, seared salmon in a Sauvignon Blanc sauce, crispy duck confit, or the very tender slow-braised beef cheek. Desserts might include an apricot and almond tart, and chocolate cake with toffee ice cream. During lunch, you can compose your own salad or sandwich with the "market list" menu. Aside from the Champagnes and a few options from Southwest France, the wine list is composed of mostly California selections, with a focus on hand-crafted boutique wines.
