We challenge you to remain undecided after perusing San Gennaro’s extensive menu of familiar Italian dishes. It hits all the favorites with enough offbeat names thrown in to keep it interesting. After starting with Maryland crab ravioli fritti or roasted peppers, how about pasta Brian or pasta Brooklyn? The former finds penne sautéed with mushrooms in a garlic-white wine sauce with chicken; the latter, sausage, peppers and onions in a tomato sauce over linguine. Ray's special pizza is loaded with mozzarella and chicken sausage with pesto. There’s also risotto and a healthy selection of mains. Scallops are breaded and sautéed in lemon, and the veal choices have sauces like Marsala with mushrooms, or Cognac, cream and porcinis. There are several wines by the glass and quite a few well-known California producers offered by the bottle at reasonable prices.
