Despite our relatively close proximity to Santa Maria---the Santa Barbara County city is much closer than Kansas City or Memphis---there are precious few places in L.A. to find authentic Western 'cue, rubbed with dry seasonings, grilled over Central California red oak and served with salsa on the side. Happily, this Culver City spot is one of those barbecue joints whose allegiance is not Midwestern or Southern. Tri-tip is the classic Santa Maria specialty, but you can also find baby-back ribs, pulled pork and chicken, along with value-priced steaks.
