Second City Bistro Restaurant Review:

Richmond Street in El Segundo was the nightlife center of town in the ’30s, but then it became a quiet backwater. The crowds have returned both for the silent movie theater and a chance to eat at Second City Bistro. One of the more exciting restaurants in the airport area, it is a place where modern American cuisine is celebrated. New Zealand mussels are steamed and served in a red curry coconut sauce, while pulled pork is presented alongside a sweet chili cabbage slaw inside lettuce cups. Soups and salads are straightforward, though there is a fun selection of burgers like the "Sunrise," which features a beef patty with bacon and tarragon aïoli, topped off with a fried egg. The "Butcher Shop" section of the menu includes cuts such as a 12-ounce bone-in pork chop and a 14-ounce filet mignon, followed by the "Fish Market," with choices like local yellowtail with avocado-lemon risotto, as well as spicy jambalaya. The California-focused wine list is a delight and guests can stop in on Monday nights for wine tastings on the back patio. End decadently with a dark chocolate crème brûlée for dessert.
