Shellback Tavern Restaurant Review:
Just off the Manhattan Beach Pier, Shellback Tavern has a view of the promenade and of beach volleyball games. Owner Bob Beverly’s menu offers everything from burgers and burritos to breakfast dishes. The Tuesday night New York steak special is a local favorite, thanks in part to a price most places haven’t offered since the ’60s. But the offerings are surprisingly diverse, with Mexican specialties (tacos are showcased on Sunday and Wednesday nights), barbecued chicken pizza, Philly cheesesteaks, Buffalo wings and cod tenders. Shellback’s margaritas are popular and the tavern promises the coldest beers in town.
