Short Order Restaurant Review: When Nancy Silverton (Osteria Mozza and Pizzeria Mozza, founder of La Brea Bakery) and Amy Pressman (late founder of Old Town Bakery) come together to open a burger joint, the expectations are high, and justifiably so. After a start that disappointed some, the kitchen is now back in order, and the artisan burgers are darn good, under the direction of executive chef Christian Page. Why? It’s simple. Start with the ingredients: the products are from local farmers and purveyors, and the meat is humanely raised, organic, pastured, grass-fed, antibiotic-hormone-GMOs-free beef. Then add a grill fired by almond wood, good fries, even better spuds and great crispy pickle chips that you can dip in homemade sauces, and as it says on the menu --- you will come again! Some other dishes include a creative tuna Niçoise that looks like a burger; a wedge salad; a nicely seasoned simple market salad; and mac ‘n’ cheese. Finish with Nancy’s Favorite chocolate chip cookie or a shake. Accompany your meal with beer or homemade cocktails, an unexpected bonus for a burger place. Another tip: If you are not in a hurry, sit upstairs, enjoy the famous Farmers Market clock tower and you will have a perfect Americana experience --- definitely a place to bring your not-from-America friends and family.
