Sportello Restaurant Review

: Salted away in a drab warehouse, Sportello offers a simple take on classic Italian trattoria fare. For example, burrata is naturally sweetened with strawberry and hazelnut. Entrées are perfectly acceptable but don't break any new ground --- think tagliatelle with Bolognese, potato gnocchi with mushroom ragù, and roast pork loin. Lunch is more of a surprise, thanks in large part to the restaurant's bakery counter. Choose from savory (and sweet) pastries, plus sandwiches and pastas to go. Sportello also sells a variety of olive oils, honeys and pastas for at-home gourmets. Sportello is just above Barbara Lynch's innovative libation salon Drink where bartenders whip up unique creations, which makes it a convenient post-nightcap hangout. After a few potent beverages, you might not mind paying $24 for your tagliatelle.
