Star King is located in the Koreatown space that was once Wilshire KBBQ Restaurant. The menu, which is à la carte, features premium meats such as Wagyu beef and black pork. This restaurant also presents the rare opportunity to order Piedmontese beef in LA, with your choices including brisket, rib-eye steak and boneless short rib. In KBBQ style, the meats are cooked at your table with help and supervision from the staff. A myriad of banchan (side dishes) are also brought out for your meal, perhaps geotjeori (fresh, unfermented kimchi), oi muchim (spicy cucumber salad), dubu buchim (pan-fried tofu) or Korean-style potato salad mixed with mayonnaise, green beans, carrots and corn. Don't forget appetizers like beef tartare mixed with julienned Asian pear and topped with an egg yolk. Sikhye, a traditional sweet Korean rice drink, may make an appearance for dessert.
