Superba Snack Bar Restaurant Review

: "Snack Bar" may be a bit of an understatement for this casual but high-minded collaboration between Paul Hibler, the creative entrepreneur behind the growing Pitfire Artisan Pizza company, and chef Jason Neroni (formerly of Osteria La Buca). The restaurant was designed to be a neighborhood spot for people to nosh on intricate yet comforting Italian small plates. Inside Superba Snack Bar you’ll find bar seating facing the open kitchen plus a few communal tables and regular tables. Outside is a small patio that’s insulated against wintry weather. Diners can order à la carte or go for the chef’s pasta or snack tasting menu, priced respectively at $45 and $65 (with wine pairings an additional $30). Crispy Brussels sprouts are doused with dashi broth and topped with a poached egg, while the smoked cauliflower "T-bone" presents the vegetable like a steak and complements it with salsa verde and fried olives. Neroni’s talent is showcased in pastas like the smoked bucatini carbonara, which has been a menu mainstay since the start. Desserts are limited, with offerings like s’mores served in a jar as well as banana cake with espresso crumble, brûléed bananas and hazelnut whipped cream. The wine list offers several unique varietals from Italy that do justice to the food.
