| This Silver Lake landmark, with its ornate plaster ceiling and cozy booths, has been serving pretty decent traditional French fare for many years---escargots, moules marinière, côte de veau, and roast pork loin with bordelaise. For dessert, there is tarte Tatin, crème brûlée and chocolate mousse. Most of the guests are old regulars who swear by the homey atmosphere, professional service and good martinis. They are being joined by downtown residents and members of the trendy Silver Lake and Los Feliz set now forsaking the over-packed Dresden Room for this place. In addition, Taix has always been a great choice for Dodger Stadium-bound diners. Live music and comedy have been incorporated into the restaurant’s 321 Lounge, which offers a welcome late-night menu. Attention wine lovers: There are bargains aplenty lurking in the extensive pages of a list that you’d never expect at an unheralded bistro. |
