Dining room at Tantalum, Long Beach, CA

Tantalum Restaurant Review

: Watching kayaks and boats pass by from our wicker perches, surrounded by tropical décor, we can almost forget we're dining in the Marina Pacifica Mall. Sit at the bar for the best views of the marina, and order from a list of handcrafted and barrel-aged cocktails. The kitchen prepares a sprawling Asian-fusion menu. Certain options are overly familiar and overpriced, but there are winners. At dinner, start with chicken satay or truffled mac ‘n’ cheese, which also makes a good side dish paired with wasabi-crusted filet. Other options include udon noodles with sweet chilies and tender cuts of filet mignon, duck two-ways and plum hoisin chicken. For dessert, the “Brass Monkey” is a Chunky Monkey crème brûlée with caramelized bananas. The global wine list is moderately priced, but most diners seem to opt for exotic mixed drinks.

Avoid, there are better places in Long Beach
by findgrace on Mon May 25, 2009 9:49 pm
Poor Service! Our waiter was absent most of the time. We waited over 30 minutes from the time we ordered until our food arrived, and that was only because we complained. The food tastes bland. The noise level gave me a headache as the TVs in the bar area were blaring simultaneously with loud overhead music. Will never go there again, there are better places to go in Long Beach. :x
