Tantalus Restaurant Review: The quaint village of East Aurora boasts an eclectic assortment of eateries---among them is Tantalus, a casual yet upscale restaurant cleverly refit within the historic building once home to Griggs and Ball Feed. The interior is modest with concrete floors, exposed supports, a lofty ceiling, and neutral color palate throughout. It exudes warmth thanks to a friendly and attentive staff. Among six starters on the contemporary menu, the arugula, duck, mango and goat cheese salad is a flavorful mix that’s sure to please. Decisions become more difficult when selecting a main course as the lobster fra diavolo and vodka sacchettini are above average. Whatever the choice, leave room for a decadent dessert such as the maple-walnut-chocolate trifle. Sonoran-style Mexican, traditional Polish, Hungarian, German and Italian fare are served alongside the usual menu offerings on Tuesdays and Thursdays. |
