Té Company Restaurant Review:

Té Company isn’t just your average West Village tea room. It’s a 13-seat spot that specializes in oolong tea from Taiwan. There are 25 varieties, from light to medium and dark roasted. The charming couple who run the place, Frederico Ribeiro and Elena Liao, from Portugal and Taiwan, respectively, help guide oolong novices through the menu. And another reason why Té Company isn’t your ordinary tea room? Ribeiro, who worked in the kitchens of Per Se, elBulli and lauded Martin Berasategui in San Sebastian, Spain, makes a short daily menu of mostly Iberian-accented snacks, including unctuous whipped lardo, Spanish tortilla that could go egg to egg, potato to potato with the best Spanish tortillas in Iberia, and, for something sweet, addictive linzer cookies that explode with flavor.
