Chef Mia Saling, wine connoisseur Luciano Leonardo and proprietor Tammy Moore have joined forces to bring some much-needed creative dining to the Santaluz area. Chef Saling favors sustainable products, giving diners an opportunity to take a culinary globe trot with dishes like pressed Cuban sandwiches, Moroccan marinated fish, and her twist on "curry" --- shrimp bathed in tomato coconut sauce, South American-style. Jazzy starters include a molten Brie crisp bedecked with jalapeƱo chutney, port wine cherries and candied pistachios, or hummus three ways with interesting flavors like curried white bean. Flatbreads such as a version with sopressata, prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, olives, basil pesto and roasted peppers, are nice to share. We weren't wild about the asparagus wrapped in prosciutto with the poached egg --- it lacked finesse --- but the Carlsbad mussels in saffron, coconut milk and ginger won us over. The wine list offers some unusual finds and the overall vibe is friendly.
