| Prices are low at this chain of noisy, hipster-filled Cuban restaurants and the décor is decidedly nondescript. Still, prepare to wait for a table, as Versailles has become L.A.’s most popular place for sexy Cuban cuisine, which richly blends Spanish, African and Caribbean traditions. The menu is extensive, but the lines are largely due to the restaurant’s signature dish: the garlic-drenched roasted chicken, which is served with sweet raw onions (grilled on request) and fried plantains over white rice. Other classic Cubano dishes on the menu include croquetas de jamón, ropa vieja, bistec empanizado (milanesa-style), and lechon asado (mojo-marinated pork). Other locations. |
