THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Daily Grill Restaurant Review:

Spin-offs of The Grill on the Alley in Beverly Hills, these clean and simple American eateries are fashioned after someone's fantasy of a '40s restaurant, right down to the white-tiled floors, dark wooden booths and blue-plate specials. The food is well executed, the prices reasonable, and the martinis hefty. Appetizers include seared ahi with pickled cucumber, as well as a jumbo crab cake topped with shallot-white wine reduction. There are soups and salads, too, such as endive and romaine tossed with spicy pecans and Gorgonzola in a walnut-oil vinaigrette. For large plates, diners can indulge in meatloaf made with wild mushrooms and a tomato glaze, chicken potpie or filet mignon with a blue cheese herb crust. Lighter entrée standouts include Moroccan-spiced chicken and grilled Idaho trout. A limited wine list focuses primarily on California producers.
