| Very popular with the West San Fernando Valley country club set is this sprawling restaurant whose candlelit tables spill out onto one of the loveliest patios in the Valley. Its brick floor, flowering vines, lazy willow trees adorned with sparkling lights and prominent stone fountain provide a delightful al fresco dining area, in contrast to the bustling, noisy interior room. Many of the usual trattoria suspects are found on the menu, generally well prepared but hardly inspired. In addition to pizzas and pastas, interesting renditions of duck, ahi and swordfish are also available. We've had good luck with grilled salmon in a Chardonnay-lime sauce, though the advertised langoustines that accompanied it were nothing more than tiny shrimp. Despite its occasional lapses, the reasonable prices and charming setting make this one of the West Valley's more noteworthy eateries. |
